Why write? What do journalists gain from their writing?

The Metrobank Foundation, Inc., (MBFI) in partnership with Probe Media Foundation, Inc. (PMFI), held the 1st Metrobank Foundation Lecture Series in Journalism hosted by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) last February 11, 2014 at the UST Medicine Auditorium. Under the Metrobank Foundation Fellowship Program in Journalism, 2013 Metrobank Foundation Journalists of the Year awardees were conferred the title of “Metrobank Foundation Fellows in Journalism”, being recognized for their ethical and noble work in the practice of journalism that has contributed to building the nation, are distinguished for their noble intention to share their experiences as professional journalists to future and aspiring journalists and advance the principles of journalism such as accuracy, fairness, intellectual honesty, and justice enshrined in the Code of Ethics for Journalism. The inaugural lecture was attended by students and faculty members from the different colleges and universities in the City of Manila. Other lectures are set to be scheduled in different venues in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

This video is a part of the lecture of 2013 Journalist of the Year Awardee Jarius Y. Bondoc at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) on February 11, 2014. Mr. Bondoc is a columnist (Gotcha) of The Philippine Star and host of DWIZ’s radio program “Sapol ni Jarius Bondoc.
