John Paul and Baby Jean both live in Bantigue, Panay, in the province of Capiz. Both of them struggle to go to school every day in the midst of poverty.

John Paul wakes up early to go to a school far from his home. At 6:30 every morning, he and his two brothers make an hour-long travel that takes them across and around three big fishponds, through a dangerously high dike and a bamboo bridge where the threat of slipping and falling into the water is all too real. On rainy days, the path to school is made even more risky to cross.
