Video contest for the youth offers Php 25,000 grand prize
To allow more people to join the “We Are Right Here. We Are RH.” Video Contest, Mulat Pinoy is extending the deadline for submissions to OCTOBER 15, 2011.
Young people aged 25 years and below are invited to join this video contest on reproductive health. Entries can discuss anything regarding reproductive health: the controversial RH Bill, maternal and child care, teenage pregnancy, virginity, condoms, pills, sexually-transmitted disease, family planning, child spacing, sex myths and misconceptions.
But why the youth?
Young people comprise a large part of the Philippine population, and they are the ones most affected by reproductive health concerns. Decisions made by this large sector today will affect the whole country in ten, twenty, fifty years. It is therefore imperative that they understand what reproductive health means, that society listens to their hopes and fears, their doubts and questions, their opinions and declarations. What do they have to say about reproductive health? Do they have anything to say? Do they want to say anything? How do they feel about the over 3.6 million teenage pregnancies in the Philippines, about sex education, about visiting a gynecologist, about premarital sex? Pro-, anti- or undecided, Mulat Pinoy wants to know.
The “We Are Right Here. We Are RH.” video contest was launched on July 11, World Population Day. The entries must be between 90 seconds and 8 minutes in length, and may use any format, such as but not limited to: animation, dramatic scene, man-on-street interviews, video blog, documentary.
The new deadline for entries is October 15, 2011. Finalists will be announced on November 4, and will later be featured in an hour-long special on the country’s premier news channel, the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC). The finalist special will be aired on November 20, 2011, at 2:00 PM. The grand prize includes Php 25,000 cash, a video camera and a plaque. The first, second and third place winners will be determined through public voting via SMS and the Mulat Pinoy website.
“We Are Right Here. We Are RH.” is presented by Mulat Pinoy, in cooperation with the Philippine Center for Population and Development, the Probe Media Foundation, Inc., Forum for Family Planning and Development, the Likhaan Center for Women’s Health, the Philippine Legislators Committee on Population and Development, and the Philippine NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare, Inc.
